Makes Installation Easier, But Not Without Errors

This wiring harness makes the installation of the factory head unit easier, but has a few issues that you should be aware of, especially if you are new to installing a new car stereo. Firstly, as other reviews have noted, there is no wire in this cable to dim the display when the headlights are on. While it doesn't seem like a big deal, the display can be very bright and distracting when driving at night. I connected it to the dash (12V), which was easy on my 1999 Celica, but I still had to wire and solder it. But overall, the cable made the installation easier than if I had done the installation without it. Please note that this Toyota Wiring Harness (70-8112) is best suited for vehicles that use a separate power amplifier (either factory or retrofit), it includes RCA jacks for connection to the preamp output of your new head unit. . However, it also includes all the necessary speaker cables if you don't have a separate amplifier in your car. Please note that if your vehicle has a factory amplifier but will not be using it, you should purchase cable #70-1761. It has two harnesses/connectors, one for power and one for speakers (you will need to unplug the speaker connector from the factory amp). Finally, the company that shipped my cable (A&A Online) sent it in an envelope with no documentation, and I had to go to the Metra website to confirm the pinout and cable color. This is not an indicator as the wire colors must match the aftermarket head unit colors. However, to be sure, I wanted to see the pinouts and wire colors. And even after getting this info, I still used a voltmeter to check the voltage before making the final connections (as a precaution). I recommend soldering or crimping all connections, don't rely on simple wire branding. I soldered my connections and used heat shrink tubing. I have two reviews for this product, one for the cable and one for the company that sells it on Revain. For the cable (quality and features) I give it a 4. It would be a 5 if it had a dimmer wire for the display. I'm giving it to the company that sells it on Revain 3 as it comes with no documentation.
