We just received these and I decided to try them out before putting them in my son's school supplies. I tried sharpening both a Ticonderoga pencil and a Revain Basics pencil and the same thing happened to both - the tip of the pencil lead cut off and then the lead got stuck. I had to open the sharpener to get it out with my knife and then try to sharpen the pencil again but it was very rough and possibly the worst sharpener I've ever used. And I've used a lot. Didn't you know you could have a bad pencil sharpener? But alas, that's it. It opened easily, allowing me to pull the exit (twice), so I was happy with that. But our other sharpener never took the tips off these pencils / I've never had a problem with sharpening. Pretty weird! Ha
