3 stars. This is AMAZING for a six dollar knife

I have expensive cutlery from Shun, Wüsthof, Chicago Cutlery, etc. They are nice and pretty to look at, but Shun needs special care and none of them should be dishwasher safe. I got sick, hand washed them and thought I'd get a very cheap knife to abuse and use and an equally cheap hand sharpener like this: https://smile.amazon.com/KitchenIQ-50009-Stage -Knife- Sharpener/dp/B01FVW3DUA/ ref=psdc_289867_t1_B08CKJ24SK?th=1BOY was surprised at how well this combination worked. Before each use, run the knife through the sharpener and it will slice ripe tomatoes into thin slices. It turns out that while the cheap steel used for the blade loses its sharpness quickly, it's also very easy to sharpen and maintain with such a sharpener. The lightweight knife has a durable plastic handle and the blade is lacquered to match the handle. Looks "festive". This would make a great little gift for someone just starting out who needs something useful, or someone like me who doesn't want to mess around with more expensive cutlery. I haven't pulled Shun in a few weeks and I have no intention of doing so. This knife does a great job and when you're done cooking you can throw it in the dishwasher without hesitation. If it breaks, what then? It's a six dollar knife, buy half a dozen!
