My daughter loves to draw and these charcoal pencils are a great option for her. She used graphite and colored pencils, but charcoal is a completely different material for her. The set contains four black pencils, four white pencils and two pencils in two different shades of brown. There's quite a bit of white, but we have black art paper that's great for this color. Black and brown pencils work well on off-white paper. She uses versatile paper, not just charcoal, which is good for her artistic skills. Charcoal adheres well to paper and blends easily. My daughter has several blending tools from other art kits that she uses. Once finished, she spray paints her artwork to set it up. The charcoal was not damaged by the splashes and her art is perfectly preserved. Pencils are easily sharpened to a fine or blunt point, depending on your preference. My daughter keeps them in a box for storage. Cardboard is strong enough to protect pencils. I believe this will be a welcome kit for any beginner or intermediate artist who loves charcoal.
