SABRENT 3 FT USB 3.0 SUPER SPEED CABLE EXTENSION CABLE FOR NIGHTHAWK WIRELESS ADAPTER.

My Netgear USB 3.0 Nighthawk Wireless Adapter 3 foot cable was too short to place the remote cradle in my desired location. (I was looking for longer cord length, no better performance, but no degradation of existing performance either.) The cord is welded to the stand so an extension cord was the only option, but the literature cautions against using a different, lower quality cord can affect performance and the Nighthawk cable will become noticeably thicker. Obviously, Netgear does not offer or recommend a longer cable. I chose the Sabrent USB 3.0 Super Speed 3ft Extender because I have had good results with other Sabrent products. Gold-plated connectors should be more conductive, and braided windings are preferred for durability and flexibility, but does that really matter for a 3-foot extension cord? The Sabrent extension is not gold plated and the cable jacket is made from the same PVC material as the original Nighthawk cable. NETGEAR, by plugging in a Sabrent extension cable to extend the cable to about 6 feet, delivered the same megabits per second and signal strength as using only Nighthawk's original 3-foot USB 3.0 cable. Sabrent says it uses 22 AWG wire, which to my knowledge is better than what's commonly found in cheaper cables. Chew on the Sabrent extension cord packaging label. The box says it is an active cable. My understanding is that active extension cords artificially amplify the signal, allowing the signal to travel much greater distances and is generally much more expensive. This Sabrent is not an active cable. This is a simple USB 3.0 Super Speed A-Male-A-Female extension cable. USB 3.0 cable specifications state that if the cable length is less than 9 feet 10 inches, signal amplification is not required provided the cable material is of good quality. My cable length of about 6 feet met USB 3.0 Super Speed length specifications. The Sabrent USB 3.0 Super Speed Extension Cable works as expected and does not reduce the signal strength or bandwidth of my wireless adapter. What more can I ask of him? I recommend this Sabrent USB 3.0 Super Speed A Male to A Female Extension Cable.
