First of all let me say that I love this cropped jacket. I am satisfied with my purchase and would not want to be without it again. I bought a yellow jacket. However, warm is relative. I live in New York, so in winter I experience very extreme temperatures of 10 to 60 degrees. Due to the length of this coat/jacket, I would not wear it in temperatures below 40 degrees if exposed to the cold for more than 15 minutes, especially in strong winds. Now with a winter scarf and layers of clothing under my pants and a sweater under my jacket, I could deal with the low temperatures. However, I don't like the cold so I would wear a longer winter coat like my Landsend Chalet. My Nautica down jacket is similar in size and design and warmer than this. The material is not designed for extreme temperatures. The front has double zips so you can wear it with great versatility. It's this quality that makes him love this jacket and the mustard color. So, to answer your question, if this is going to be your only winter coat and you have to endure harsh temperatures, buy another jacket; But if this jacket is going to become one of the winter coats in your wardrobe then don't hesitate if this purchase isn't for a child as the sleeves look like they'll stand up to rough play. Finally, let me say that my jackets arrived a few weeks ahead of the original delivery date stated at purchase. I hope I was helpful. I've been thinking about getting another one in the same color so I don't have to be without it if something happens to this one. (to wink)
