Review on Enhance Aquarium Filtration with Marineland PRIM150B 150b Impeller Assembly Penguin Filter Parts by Donna Colbert

Substitute for fish and aquatic animals

The impeller is an acceptable replacement for the 150 Bio Wheel Power Filter when you need it. If you buy this wheel you must have worn one out and if you are like me buy it in just 1 month! It is too expensive for that in the long run, at this price it costs more than a completely new surge protector in just 3 months. Although that was my fault. I used very, very fine grit to get between the impeller shaft and the casing and sanded it down until large grooves formed on the impeller shaft. This will result in a very noisy pump that will need to be replaced. In addition, shortly after they begin to show and make noise, the grooves will deepen, eventually causing the impeller blades to mesh and pumping to stop momentarily. it is noisy and inefficient work. Unacceptable. So don't use fine sand in your power filter (or maybe just the one that sells for just $25). There is something you can do to reduce the effect of the suspended sand by reducing the time the filter is running while the sand is still being agitated. Let it settle before running the filter. Lesson learned.
