Review on SeeSii Upgraded Stick Welder 250Amp: Intelligent MMA Welding Machine with Digital Display, LCD and Hot Start Features - 110V Inverter, Electrode Holder, Work Clamp Included by Joshua Morales

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Very confusing manual and no mention of actual duty cycle

Full disclosure: I am an absolute hobbyist when it comes to welding. I've never fired an arc before. This review is based solely on my first impressions and I may update it in the future. It comes with a face shield that I can only describe as "charming" - you have to hold it with one hand, meaning your sweaty arm isn't fully supported. I strongly recommend you bring your own helmet. The machine itself appears to be of reasonable quality and works well, unfortunately I cannot get into the ark until more supplies arrive. My biggest issue is the terrible user manual and this is where I gave the product two full stars. While I was expecting something translated by Google, this guide borders on unreadable. Many sentences don't make sense and the specification tables are extremely confusing - every single "model/item" in the table is exactly the same, many input voltages have the same ratings and there is no space in them. The manual mentions the maximum current draw from the outlet. The duty cycle is 60%, but it doesn't say what that duty cycle percentage is. This may be common knowledge to those really knowledgeable about welding, but as a complete layman I can only speculate. So I'm guessing this is based on a 2-3 minute rest period, which means you can only weld about 1-2 minutes at a time before the machine has to rest. It's not terrible, and to be honest I expected it from a machine of this size, but a little more explanation would be nice. "AC 220 V". Having experience in electronics, I can only assume that the switch is rated for 220V and the input is 110V. I agree with that, but it certainly may confuse some. On the bright side: This machine is very small and portable. Assuming it will actually put out a constant current and get to the full 250A then I can see this being extremely useful to me when making small parts for my SUV. And as I get better at welding - assuming this machine lasts long enough - I can easily take it to help friends and family with projects at home without worrying about getting it up and running. . I will update this review in the future when I have some time with it.

Pros
  • Improved IGBT smart inverter technology
Cons
  • Really don't like it, everything is fine
