We fixed this problem by purchasing a wooden dowel (3/4 inch from Home Depot - $1) and inserting the two pieces from opposite sides through the top small holes and aligning them with the notch on the Let bottom rest plate (disc Now the discs rotate together and utensils are stored separately.
