Review on Borogo Watercraft Replacement Steering Accessories by Patrick Reid

Tracking issues fixed!

Bought a Sundolphin Bali 10SS and was hooked for a day. The second time out on the water, I quickly realized that no matter what I did, the boat wasn't going to go straight. This meant I was wasting energy not only in propelling myself forward, but also in keeping the kayak level. As soon as you stop rowing, the boat will turn around. The design of this kayak also doesn't allow for very fast paddling due to the flat bottom. I hated my new kayak. Couldn't find a place that had kayaks available at the time so I'm stuck. Did a little research and decided a retractable skeg was the way to go. The bracket that came with the steering wheel didn't fit me. The pin on the handlebar is not a standard size and will not fit other mounts. I made a rubber gasket and used the drain plug as a pin. I drilled two holes and used screws to attach the rudder wings to the kayak. I used a snap hook on my seat belt as a cable to raise and lower the skeg. (It's important that if you decide to use it as a skeg, you can easily deflate it and remove it from your seat.) My next day on the river was fantastic. My fix was perfect even on a windy day in a flat bottomed kayak! I fell in love with my new boat again. Whichever line I choose, the kayak follows me. It even improved my paddling speed. The steering wheel is slightly worn but still intact after a few months of use. I recently swapped my kayak, kept the steering wheel 🥰.
