The first pump I received worked perfectly for the first 30 seconds of use. It then switched off before the pressure was reached and the display showed every 8 s. It happened over and over again with varying lengths of time before it kicked off. I have attached a photo of the defective device. This would happen with the engine off and running, so voltage is not the issue. I usually throw away a broken unit but I really like the design of this pump and love the fact that it lasts longer than other portable pumps without overheating so I decided to return it and ask for a replacement. Revain makes it easy to return/replace them, so I decided to try a second pump. The second pump I received works great. It's quieter than previous pumps I've used (but still quite noisy), it pumps fast for a small pump, the cord and air hose are a good length, the light works well, and the pressure adjust function works well. It worked for me without a motor. I would rate the 2nd pump 5 stars, but I deduct 1 star for the 1st pump that failed. I love this pump but I highly recommend trying it out when you receive it. Don't just throw it in the trunk and think it works.
