We used this on a recent cross country move with two cats and a baby who lived between cabs and roadside motels for seven days. It is as easy to transport as any travel tray. You can even wear it on your side and still not leak. That's a great box. So you know what you're getting into when you decide to take your cat on a road trip. Let me share a moment of our journey where this wonderful purchase came in very handy. Suddenly we were surprised by the worst thunderstorm and downpour of this summer. Just as lightning, thunder and rain were pounding wildly around us, my husband received an extremely important business call and I made a wrong turn. While it would normally be possible to turn sideways in this case, my wrong turn led me onto what is arguably the most winding four-lane freeway on the ramp/exit at the end of 48. And as fate would have it, at that precise moment, my big adult cat Jack decided , who never goes to the toilet in the car, that he simply MUST poop. My poor son in the back seat had to arrange all the cat-howling and tray-handling while mom made flaming turns in a raging storm and dad made his grand appeal, desperately trying to sound professional. Meowing in anger, obviously distraught, Jack reluctantly stepped into the box and went about his stinking business. Like any regular cat throwing sand around and out of the crate (though not too much because the sides are a decent height), Jack jumped right out of the crate onto our seats, and debris and bits of food were strewn everywhere. But that was just one of the many inconveniences that would crop up between human and cat during our road trip that we hope will never have to be repeated.
