Excellent quality! in Lighting & Lighting Accessories

I really liked these lights but didn't keep them. First let me say that I am very impressed with the high quality of these headlights. These headlights are really top notch and I wouldn't hesitate to install them due to quality issues. These are durable aluminum brackets and ballasts. Wiring/cables neatly hidden. The box they came in was heavy (old school) and the contents were neatly packed in a styrofoam cutout. The installation instructions were easy to understand. The H7 bulbs I used had a collar adapter that went in first. Once the adapter was in place (just like installing regular headlights), the LED lights slid and snapped into place with a spring clip. At this point you simply tie the ballast to the existing wiring in the same area and connect it to the fixture's electrical connector. The light worked. They're bright and have that digital on/off quality that halogens don't have due to the hot element used (when you get them you'll see what I mean). There were no electrical problems in the car, no error messages, no flashing lights, no problems at all. These headlights have fans which means things can still go wrong but I really think everything is so well done with these headlights that I believe the fans will last a very long time. It's pretty cool to hear them build up when you turn on the lights. They cannot be heard after starting the engine. Hey John, if these lights are so cool, why did you send them back? So here are the pros and cons, in my opinion the pros are 1) excellent quality. Sturdy construction, properly sealed, watertight, closed wiring2) just worked. There are no problems with the car electrics 3) very bright 4) it shines exactly like on halogens, only the light is brighter. No problem blinding other drivers, no settings required. Disadvantages 1) fan. They have cooling fans so things can go wrong with the lighting. However, as mentioned above, I think this product is so well made that the fans last as long as the LEDs. 2) Color / spectrum of lighting. Maybe it's me, but I felt that the lighting, no matter how bright, didn't cover the full spectrum, and so when driving on country roads near my home, neither did reflective browns (dirt, trees, bushes). didn't show up. just like normal halogens. This wasn't a deal breaker by any means, but it was something I noticed. 3) The headlight mounting box could not be closed with this lighting style. My smart car headlights come as a sealed assembly. Smaller halogen bulbs (without ballast) fit into the headlight mounting box and then have a lid that seals the access opening and keeps dust, leaves, water, spiders, etc. out of the box. On my car, this assembly/box has high beam, low beam and warning lights. These LED lights require a bit more hardware and therefore do not all fit in the headlight mounting box. When I first installed these lights I was concerned I wouldn't be able to close the lid but decided to give it a try and see how it works. Over time it bothered me that I was exposing the lighting to the elements when they were supposed to be sealed in the box. These LEDs are larger and have fans. I tried modifying the skins to make them work but there was no easy way to do it. Issue 3 was a deal breaker for me so regrettably I took it out and sent it back to Amazon. I do not know. If I had left these headlights in place, nothing could be scarier than the occasional spider that might nest in the headlight box, but it bothered the OCD part of my personality, so I sent them back. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5. I highly recommend these lights.
