These are worthy budget class flashlights. As others have noted, they are very bright initially, but quickly drain the battery and lose that intense brightness. They still offer a very functional level of light for several hours of use before becoming relatively dim. The design is cheap and simplified. They just don't look as good as stationary electric lights, but they're pretty sturdy. The battery and light portion of the device connects to the mounting base with a simple 1/4" twist, and I found it very easy to remove by tapping on it to turn it on. (You have to press pretty hard for the switch to work.) I use them as under cabinet lights in my kitchen. Trying to do this with a battery powered lamp helped me figure out where I needed more light, and it's an affordable option as long as I don't have the money to install electricity. the lights.
