Review on BOSCH RA1054 Deluxe Router Edge Guide: Precision Routing with Dust Extraction and Vacuum Compatibility by Kenny Rossi

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Well designed, easy to adjust, built to work, be careful with bolt tension!

**Updated March 2020** Still a great idea although I would make sure to tighten the locking screws to secure the adjustment rods to the base of the router. When setting up for a set of loose slot cutouts, the thin metal of the mortise base of my 1617EVS router (Bosch part number RA1166) cracked, resulting in a slight tension play. More of an assessment of the poor casting quality of the dive floor rather than the leading edge. Just a "user beware" caveat. Still a well thought out accessory. It is often said that there is always the right tool for the job. In this case it is the right tool for many tasks, from circle milling to edge milling. I chose it to cut some loose slots in a furniture project I was building and found it perfect for the job at hand and even served me well with some folding work that I had to knock out without special tools. However, I've had some trouble leveling the router (large 1617EVS) on some of my 3/4" stock because the side rail extends about a quarter of an inch past the stock. Not critical, but there is something to consider. when you fix the workpiece on the machine. If the workpiece is not thick enough, you will need to hang over the machine or use supports to lift the workpiece, this should be noted. liked the piece for work, it does very well. It's a great addition to the store. If you have a Bosch milling machine and want to do some sheet pile work and/or loose mortise and tenon projects (a la Festool Domino), pick this one guy and with careful planning it will be an undeniable asset to the shop.
