I am running a marathon in April and need new shoes for training and running. I always walk in Nike shoes, although lately I've stopped disliking the way they look. I tried several other brands (Brooks Running, Asics, New Balance) but they didn't work for me, so I went back to Nike and went for the Nike Pegasus 35, thinking it was the best option is. I've put them on once and they looked good, but I've just put them on for the second time and can't help but feel that the ankle dips are very low. It feels like there isn't much support around my ankle and it actually feels like the arch of my foot lifts out of the shoe as I run. This is very frustrating. Since it feels so flat, I doubt you'll be able to fit any sort of orthotics into this shoe and wear it comfortably. And since the sides reach below the ankle, all socks, even those that aren't meant to be flaunted, stand out. I also don't like that the tongue of the shoe is very long. When I run it sticks out and hits the top of my ankle. In general, the entire ankle area is uncomfortable with this shoe. I'm concerned that training without stabilization will give me ankle problems, but for now I've already put them on and can't afford a second pair.
