Review on ๐Ÿงฅ Merrell Women's Ellenwood Insulated XS Apparel by Sara Terry

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I love the style but the color is not true and poor quality.

After reading all the positive reviews, I am buying this coat for the upcoming rainy season. This is a good coat IF you were able to get it without any manufacturing defects. First I bought a Conifer Heather in a small size and it seems to be the last coat available. No longer in stock directly from the manufacturer or elsewhere. I can only assume it's a return as it wasn't available for a whole month and then appeared out of nowhere. The color is the same blue as in the photo but more green with touches of blue. The sizing is pretty accurate and the style is absolutely beautiful and classy for an insulated raincoat. The length is perfect, about 35.5 inches, which comes to mid-thigh and I'm 5-6 inches tall. You can adjust the waist and wrist and tighten the hood. The material feels great inside and out. The insulation is only polyester, not down, so no warm coat. Good for spring or fall New York around 30 degrees Fahrenheit and above. There is an extra hem at the front of the hood that protects the face from rain. There are 2 front zippered side pockets and 1 inner zippered pocket on the left side. According to a Merrell sales rep, it's waterproof, not just waterproof. I asked what that meant and she replied that the seams and zippers are water repellent because they are reinforced with waterproof protective paper. I don't know what that means until I've seen it myself, which I'll explain below. This sounds like the perfect coat for me and I may not have noticed the color difference until I saw the quality of this coat. When it was made it was definitely rushed because the stitching in the seam to create that thin A-line wasn't done right. He began to lag behind the fabric, exposing waterproof white paper under the seam. The worst thing was that the sleeves were different lengths. One sleeve reached to my wrist and the other was above my wrist. The difference is only 1 inch and is barely noticeable when my arms were down, but it was very noticeable when my elbows were bent and reaching for something. It drove me nuts when I found it out and even though it's the last of the season I had to return it because I don't want to pay $$$ for a coat with so many flaws. Thank goodness Revain has an easy return policy, but I would be wary of buying it from a third party.
