I used 2x6 construction lumber for the cross beam and they work great. I gave it 4 stars because it's quite difficult to get the board to sit flush with the bottom of the brackets, but I guess I don't care. It's exceeding my needs at the moment and that's all that matters to me. They are very durable and I'm sure they will last for several lifetimes. The instructions said the nut/bolt was 11mm; But the screws that came with me were 10mm. Does not matter. If anything is going to fail, it's the screws, so make sure you have good quality screws. A few things to know when ordering this product: This product contains parts for ONE portal portal, you need to provide your own crossbar.
