For about $15 I don't understand what these whiners were expecting. I use this radio on my bike rides and have no problem with most FM stations nice and clear, AM stations is a different story, I pick up most of them and a lot of them have some sort of hiss or interference some of them not so bad at all. You should keep in mind that this radio uses the headset cord as an antenna and you may sometimes need to retune it to get better reception. All in all, for $15 it does the job. The headphones are very comfortable with good sound and I can still hear the sounds around me so I consider them safe. I also like the fact that they are worn at the nape of the neck instead of on top of the head. The controls are well done too, the radio takes a long button press to go to the next station, it has memories for your factories, responsive volume controls damn it! what else can you expect for this money. If you are not picky then I recommend.
