The first thing you should know is that it takes quite a bit of force to open the pant grip mechanism (whatever it's called), which means it can hold the clothes hold well and neatly, but will be difficult to open for those with arthritis or other hand problems. They really make the clothes look neat and they fit right on the stem. Check out my photo showing 12 hangers on a rod, with a ruler to show width (just over 12 inches on all pants). I marked a star because a hanger was slightly damaged, allowing the piece hanging from the pole to slip. instead of staying in the middle.
