The end result is phenomenal. it was a great purchase. It's not a very complex device, but it does what it needs to do exceptionally well. From a purist point of view, the combined strap system forms an arc on the machined edge instead of a straight line - so it will dull a little faster if it does dull - but that's a minor gripe. The complaint is tiny, especially since it only takes a few minutes to get a razor-sharp edge again. I am very glad I bought this sharpener as it takes me several minutes to do what used to take me 30 minutes with a knife.
