Review on Lifegard Aquatics Ultra Clear Low Iron Glass Crystal Aquarium with Integrated Side Filter, 45° Beveled Edge, 4.1 Gallons - Transparent by Robert Lodge

The small filter area severely limits upgrades.

First off, it's a nice aquarium with a nice build, but it definitely has its flaws, and one of them is huge to me. I start with what I like. Low iron glass looks crystal clear. Beautiful beveled edges are clean and smooth, 45 degree corners are very nicely done and look amazing. The wall separating the display and filter is tinted and the outside of the tank is covered in vinyl wrapped around the filter area. The supplied pump also works silently. Now my biggest problem with this tank is that you can't find the dimensions of the filter area. I've tried in the dark and even emailed the manufacturer but to no avail. The filter area is only 2-3/16 inches from the bulkhead to the rear window. This significantly reduces the amount of suitable equipment. The protein skimmer is limited to the small airstone skimmer unless you upgrade to the smallest of the pump operated skimmer. Retrofitting the return pump is also significantly restricted. This means I have to use the circulation pump on the display to get the required flow. What still worries me is that the wall separating the display from the filter area is made of glass, making it impossible to change the overflow, at least not that easily. All in all I'll get this to work, the filter area sizes are just frustrating so I might use a sump filter later in the future to meet my filtering needs.
