This is one of the quietest air pumps and 8 ports installed is much better than industrial looking air pumps with hose and 8 or 12 way couplers. Best of all, after 2 years of continuous 24/7 use, it still works today. I've had some industrial looking versions of Vivosun and the like and they don't last that long. In fact, after a year it becomes very noisy. The Vivosun air pump, the 800+ gph version, recently died. The industrial version of Vivosun heats up constantly right after unpacking. This pump, with its outer casing and internal cooling, definitely feels a lot cooler, and the adjustable airflow knob is a nice feature, although I don't personally use it in my circumstances. If you are running a 6 pot hydroponic setup with two Airstones in your main pump tank and one in each 5 gallon bucket, this pump will absolutely get the job done.
