I wouldn't recommend soldering.

Had very similar issues with others recently. One had the insides falling out before receiving. I soldered the first one and couldn't put my connector on it. So I soldered it. I checked the second one beforehand for a good fit and went to solder it. I was careful, the thing was still overheating. The inside shrinks/melts when you heat it to solder, making it impossible to connect. Totally wasted money.
