I'm a cloth snob. Since I sew and quilt a lot, I know the feel and durability of a good FABRIC. Cotton is my favorite fabric and some types of cotton hold up much better than others due to the weave, cotton type and thread count. I'm so tired of the microfiber towels we had. These are all commercially available and when I bought a set for my bed I realized these were not the right sheets for me. I needed good, durable cotton. I felt like I was on an impossible mission. Ironically, my standard consisted of a few white cotton sheets that my mother gave me to use as a base for quilts. They belonged to my Nana and were probably 50 years old, but they were in perfect condition (apart from a few blue stains that were easy to remove). As I used them to spread out some quilts, I reveled in their weight, thickness, and how beautifully they came out of the washer and dryer. I was looking for a bed sheet set with all the qualities and features of my Nana's top sheets. Wanted, wanted. And finally found! That's all! These sheets are super washable. I hung them on a clothesline to dry straight out of the washer (they were a little wrinkled, but who cares?) and threw them in the dryer. You should remove them when they are JUST dry - don't let them bake and dry out (I'm used to this routine of prewashing/drying yards and yards of fabric). Both drying methods work well, the sheets are soft and VERY comfortable. The fitted sheet pockets are deep, the flat sheet is extra long for easy tucking in, and the pillowcases accommodate a large, soft pillow. I am very happy with these sheets. These are my favorite sheets now as I will be buying other sets to outfit other beds in my house so I can get rid of those nasty microfiber sheets which are awful!
