Bought a 6 inch blade which is enough for most of my needs. The knife feels solid and well balanced. It's instantly sharp and ready to use. The first dishes I used it on were chicken, beef, and fresh white onions. The blade went through everyone smoothly and effortlessly. One thing that struck me was that although the brand name and presentation implied German manufacture, the box clearly said "Made in China". This does not detract from the value and quality of this knife. But I believe in truth in advertising. It is presented as a German knife, but it would be more accurate to say that it is a German knife or a German-style knife. I haven't had it long enough to determine how often it needs sharpening. Overall I would say this is a very good everyday knife that feels good in the hand.
