Review on πŸ”¨ Premium Leather Craft Hole Punch Set: 3 Pcs Lacing Stitching Punch Tool - Multiple Prong Sizes - Must-have for Crafting by Angela Rodriguez

Revainrating 3 out of 5

OK FOR WHAT I NEED, NOT GOOD FOR EVERYDAY LIFE.

I only needed a 3.85mm kit for a pocket size prototype I was making as I don't have a kit that size. I figured I would buy a cheap set for this and buy a quality set if I like the look. For what I did, the prototyping, they did what I needed, but if you're planning on buying them for real work or even practice I wouldn't recommend them. The problem with this is that the spikes are not at least polished in, but were not finished at all. They still had machine grooves when they were cut out. This makes removing leather irons very difficult and tends to bend the teeth, which I have done on a number of occasions. Which brings me to my next complaint, the prongs bend fairly easily. I use a Japanese perforation pad that fits my irons very easily and still flexes. Overall I can't complain personally because I knew what I was getting when I ordered them and I knew what I was going to use them for, but I feel like anyone who bought them for a real project or even practice would used, will waste his money as they will not last long, except perhaps on the thinnest of skin, and still not produce an acceptable result. If you decide to buy, please pay attention to what you get. I understand the urge to buy these if you are just starting out, but I would suggest saving up and buying a higher quality set for practice or as a first set. this will be frustrating and can ruin your leathercrafting experience. Kevin Lee Tools makes a good budget kit that will set you back about $50 which is a lot higher than what they have. Wuta also makes several high-quality kits priced around $100 that are unmatched on the market. I bought both and still use them.
