I used tape to attach the rubber backing mats to the wooden stairs. I wanted a removable one so there would be no problem removing the mats in the future. The pads themselves hold up well thanks to the rubber, but the dog tends to kick them. So I needed some good double sided tape. This is a very thin piece of tape and works best if you stick one side to the product and then peel off the backing and stick to the other surface. My husband tried to work with just no backing tape on one side but he couldn't with his big hands. The tape began to wrinkle. So far the stair carpet has held up well with just a small piece of tape. The company has very responsive customer service and responded to my question very quickly. I love supporting small businesses especially when they care about their customers. I will definitely be buying more of this band and checking out the other items they sell. Although this tape is marketed as carpet tape, I know I will find other uses for it around the home and workshop. Well, if the tape is removable. I experimented with a few spots on my stairs and was able to remove the tape without much trace. What was left washed off easily with no problems.
