Great! Beauty & Personal Care

Well that's going to be a long story full of information so you don't hate your life later. The first time I did it, it was me. There's a learning curve, and no matter how many reviews you read, it's hard to remember when you accidentally drop a piece of wax on your armpit and stop long enough or don't warm up enough. and it dries up and hardens. It hurt like hell. So my advice on the points: * A lot of people suggest watching videos. Probably a good idea. Based on my first solo experience, I probably should have. But obviously I've been a pro since I've been to the spa once and done it. This is very wrong. Don't think that you can just get up and do it. You can, but it's a lot harder when it comes to it. * It hurts like hell. You're not a woman if you drink a few Advils 30 minutes beforehand. Do it. * While it doesn't make you a pro in any way, go to a salon and get one done so you know what to do and what your pain tolerance will be. * Pay twenty dollars extra to get the kit. I can't imagine how difficult it would be without heating. * Make sure the wax is warm enough but not too hot. Someone suggested melting it down and then placing it between off and medium. Good advice. It takes WEIGHT to melt the first time, so don't think your hot water bottle is junk. *Before you begin, make sure you have baby powder, coconut oil (or the oil from the kit), and a pair of scissors. Baby powder in case you get sweaty and sticky. Dry the skin before applying the oil. I'm in love with coconut oil and it worked great. * DON'T FORGET OIL! Serious. Put this where you're going before you start, just in case you forget it in between. Let me tell you that waxing is a million times more painful when it removes your skin. And there is such a thing as oils. If you overdo it, wait 30 seconds and you'll be fine. 1/4 inch seems to be a rule of thumb. This part is just as important as oil lubrication. * Do not apply too thickly. It gets rougher and hardens faster and you get stuck in the netaryai with drops of wax. No fun. * Start with your feet. Do it right on your feet first and know you're going to mess up your woman parts anyway. It just depends on how many times you get it wrong. * I've said this before, but don't forget the oil. armpits. It's just as painful as your upcoming bikini, so it's a good test to see if your Advil is still working. But to be honest, Advil isn't really enough to not hurt even a little bit.* Start small and start with a skinny weight. The paper is not thin, but not too thick either. This is where your first learning curve begins. * After making an shoulder strap or two, go to the middle. * Start from the outside and work your way in. For me, the "runway" was the most painful part. take off. Actually, this is only a problem if you're doing a full Monty. If you can perform a gyno style with back support and legs resting a bit, you're better off. Don't worry if you accidentally do this, but try to avoid it. * Don't forget your oil. * The whole area becomes very sensitive and it takes a long time to start it for the first time. So if you find it's getting unbearable, do your armpits or legs or stomach or whatever for fifteen or twenty minutes and relax. And don't freak out. When you go to the salon to get waxed, watch closely as they do it. You're pansies, you just shot yourself in the foot. But when you do, the scissors you have on hand will find another use. When it gets very hard and crumbly and you just can't pull it off, you can sometimes pull just enough to cut off the hair and wax. Just take care of your skin. They make a wax remover but I didn't have one and once it sets the oil doesn't help you at all. Some people recommend baby oil, but I didn't have it on hand for the infamous armpit from the 2012 episode. All of this suggests that this is a truly amazing tool. Bad reviews are user errors. I refrained from writing a review after the first time, thinking I'd try again before giving my opinion on the product. I'm glad I did. It still hurts, especially if you have sensitive skin like mine, but it's getting better! Oh! Also if you get bumps on your head you shouldn't pop them but I had a really big itchy bump which I accidentally scratched and it burst. A few hours later, a tiny sliver of wax appeared with the smallest piece of root. I think it was about time there were two and only one when they came out. So FYI if you get a big itchy white spot put some Neosporin and a patch on it, let it soften up and see when it occurs. Much luck! :)

Pros
  • SAVE TIME AND MONEY: ideal for waxers who don't want to spend too much time and money on regular salon visits; Bring the spa home and let yourself be pampered and cared for at any time of the day. Same professional result but much cheaper
Cons
  • Dubious purchase for the elderly
