A few months ago I bought a pair of these flares for my car emergency kit. Inserting the batteries was easy enough and while doing so I felt the torches were sturdy and well made. They were bright and visible, and the magnet was strong. I haven't had to use them in an emergency yet (hopefully never, knock wood) but I feel more secure having them ready in the trunk. My only concern is that a failed battery could leak into the bay, and since the bay requires a tool to open the battery compartment (probably for added waterproofing, an understandable choice in this case), I can't easily verify that. the condition of the batteries and I don't want to leave them without batteries (because then I would have to use tools to insert the batteries in an emergency). But at the end of the day I guess a battery leak is pretty unlikely, I used quality batteries so I'm sure everything will be fine. I am happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others.
