This helmet is comfortable and the mechanisms of both the metal mesh visor and earmuffs work well. You can remove the hearing protection when you don't need/use it. I can't attest to the effectiveness of the belay as I haven't had a huge branch fall on my head and I hope I never fall. You can poke holes in the top with an awl to increase airflow. The mesh won't stop large limbs from smacking you in the face, but it will stop most small objects like bark and small branches. I like the helmet itself, but the instruction manual is an example of internationalization gone horribly wrong. There are over 130 pages in 60 different languages, but they're all based on a single page with illustrations that are blurry, small, and ill-conceived line art. When it comes to putting this thing together, you're kind of on your own. Expect some fiddling to get all the plastic parts right. However, once assembled this is a great chainsaw helmet. Don't forget the other protective gear: goggles, gloves, hats, boots. And when you're done with the day, don't put gloves in your helmet!
