They look nice and probably offer a bit more protection when gear is used. I wanted to like them and I wanted to keep them, but unfortunately they didn't stay on my feet. I have unusually large thighs and calves; what I call "T-Rex legs". Huge hips, skinny knees and huge calves. Maybe they would fit well if I had normal sized feet. Also, one of the pads had a serious manufacturing defect. One pad had enough velcro straps in the shin area, the other pad had a significantly shorter strap length to work in the shin area. This caused the pillow to open up when it moved, making it even more difficult for one of the pads to stay in place. I've decided to return them because if even standing doesn't keep them in place, they become useless for defense. If you have regular sized feet, you can give them a whirl. I hope it was just an unfortunate batch with a short strap on a padding dilemma.
