They are durable, well made of thick material. They are well padded and indeed have an overly padded, extremely durable appeal that matches most outdoor cushions. The fabric feels a little "rough"; which is not bad - rough as strong. They are easy to clean and wash if something spills nearby. Although I fully understood that this was an outdoor/patio cushion; I asked her to focus on our living room in the basement.
