Great item. I did not find any strange smell, it seemed to me to be something like mint. It left my skin so soft, smooth and hydrated. I have terribly dry skin that can be very itchy, especially in the winter months. I was a bit worried when I opened the jar, the scrub is dry, not an oil or liquid which I'm used to. However, if you put some water on your skin first, it will slide easily. The only advice I have is don't go crazy if it doesn't wash off with clean water. There are no instructions on the packaging, but it will leave black streaks on your skin if you only use water. I just used a washcloth and everything went fine with no stains on the skin. I would buy this again.
