I switched from pre-packaged Fluval charcoal in my canisters and Aquaclear to this charcoal in a Fluval reusable pouch and it has been proven to work well in water containers crystal clear, holds up that way long, if not longer than I'm used to, and doesn't wash too badly; There's quite a bit of dust, but it's washed off pretty quickly with a regular faucet. The only thing I would recommend is to get a larger can than you think you need - big cans are more economical and you can get away with them. Pretty quick if like me you have more than one tank at home. I bought a size 1L and ran out pretty quickly, refilling 1 canister filter and some Aquaclear. The 2L size will most likely last me for a more appropriate time, maybe 6 months. (This is based on a CO2 change of 1 time per month).
