Review on 🧡 John James Glovers Needles - Set of 8 High-Quality Sewing Needles by Heather Shaw

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The other brand was a nightmare, this is a dream!

I bought these for a leather quiver I make for my daughter after the tandy pins I bought started breaking (9 out of 10 broke even though the holes were pre-punched) . After they arrived I tested one on a two layer 8 oz vegetable tanned, 9-10 oz vegetable covered in thick goatskin (equivalent to another 6-7 oz for a total thickness of 15-16 oz) and a triple blend of 8 oz Vegetables (even though they were removed, they were still 5/16+ inch thick). Needless to say, the needle just went through all the layers like cutting through butter, and I didn't even have to pre-punch holes! Size 3 John James needles may look thin, but they are strong and durable. . I can thread it with both 0.8mm and 1.0mm tiger thread, although 1.0mm takes a bit more time and care (you have to cut diagonally). I especially appreciate that they are finished in the eye so the thread doesn't break (that was a big problem with Tandy needles). I was so impressed with them that I have already ordered another pack, but this time in a size 1. I only wish Revain would carry their range of saddle pins (blunt end) as well.

Pros
  • Great for personal and professional use
Cons
  • Not trendy
