First impressions, before installation 12/17/20201. What's in the box?: - Well packaged as it doesn't have much free space, but it has enough space to keep the product safe during transit. - Aivo Connect Mount with Alexa built into the base. - Standard adapter for an automatic socket (aka cigarette lighter socket) with a USB-C connector for mounting. It also has a USB input so you can connect an additional device for power if needed. - Two sticky dashboard mounting pads as they are not designed to be installed on windows. - Documentation that is easy to read and informative. 2. Fixture Installation: Very easy to install as you simply line up the frog on the dashboard, give it time to fully adhere, then attach the bracket and rotate. (See my slight dissatisfaction with proper assembly below).3. Installing the App: - Setting up Aivo Connect was quite intuitive as you can read the instructions and they will then walk you through the whole process. The Alexa app is required to connect, but if you don't have it, it will link you to the App Store to install it, so don't worry.4. First use (simple or complex)? 12/18/2020- I have a Samsung S20 Ultra with the Otterbox Defender case and have had no trouble putting it on or holding it.- After attaching the mount to the dash I thought it was off then I realized that it would snap into place, so it might take some force to turn it. Also, the part that holds the phone can move back and forth a bit, allowing for a bit of repositioning, which while not as good as other iOttie mounts with telescoping movements, helps a bit with positioning. The only problem was that I found I had to turn the bezel counter-clockwise a hair or two to center myself in the camera during video calls. It's not the end of the world as you shouldn't make video calls or watch videos while driving, but it does mean it's stuck now as it can't change. I would like the phone to hold part of the mount so there is more room to move the phone similar to the other iOttie products so you are not restricted in movement once the dash is in place. - I would like to preface this statement with the following. I'm a Google fan at the moment, so I currently have all the Google Home Automation products and use Google Assistant, not Revain Alexa. So that was the first time I downloaded the Alexa app and I'm still trying to figure it out. So right now it seems to me that it's much more complicated than Google Assistant. I'm looking into the app to tweak the settings to see if that helps. But still in the car if I say "Alexa, take me home" it happens. But when I say "Alexa call X", it's not. I can see the light on the mount flashing which tells me he heard me, but I'm not sure if the issue is with the iOttie app or the Alexa app. - I'm not sure at this point if I can use the Alexa app to . Because you must have iOttie software which is I5. (positive) What do I like about it? - The unique design allows for some interesting placement options once you get past the slight grip I have below. I looked at a few different spots before moving on to the tried and true center line.6. (negative) What do I not like? - I wish there were more options on the mount to change the position of the phone holder itself, at the moment it's limited so if you have multiple drivers in the car or change position. This may affect the viewing angle of the phone because you can only change the angle of the mount head slightly (forward/backward only) after installation. It's also a little heavy on top, which initially worried me that it would quickly pull the stickiness out of the attachment piece once the phone is seated in it when the phone mount is tilted forward to the maximum. All other iOttie dash mounts have very good placement options with telescoping mounts, so I'd love to see something like this with the new line. The button to open the mount is in an awkward spot, as it only opens when it's on. I had a bit of a hard time finding where to place it and what not for video calls as I had to plug it in first. Even then I was turning my camera. I wish the included charger was a standard USB-C cable with car plug adapter so I can choose what works best for my car. My car has a built in USB plug and a car socket next to it so either works for me but I prefer not to use a socket. — I would like to be able to use Google Assistant instead of Alexa as I personally use the Google Home Automation Ecosystem and not Revain Alexa. A few questions remain to be answered: - What is this device for? - How is it different from Echo Auto? - How is it different from Android Auto?
