Coconut milk - nice pure white base

I bought 4 blocks of coconut milk base and I am happy with them - they are pure white - whiter than goat milk base because they are suitable for touching, for example, much simpler soap. They also cut and melt very easily. I used a large kitchen knife and a silicone cutting board to cut the blocks into 1-inch cubes, then microwaved each until runny, about 20-30 seconds at a time. Then just add drops of dye (diluted in some alcohol, oil or water if you like) or mix with some mica (same thing: mix with some carrier before adding to the melted base). Then it's time for the scent. Coconut base itself is virtually odorless, FYI. I don't know if I was expecting anything different, but just wanted to point out who is wondering. For newbies like me, I've found that you need to pour the melted soap into the molds fairly quickly - ie don't get up and look out the window or you'll have to constantly wipe the melted soap to keep it liquid. it will begin to harden immediately --- after about a minute or two at the edges. As for total curing time, I left mine in the silicone molds for a few hours (maybe 3 hours or so) and then they were firm enough to be safely handled and wrapped in cling film. After I bought back these coconut milk blocks — I've also tried Saponify's goat milk, clear glycerin, and honey — they were all good.

This was my first experience with soap making. Worked very well.
