I bought these to wear while knitting on the loom to reduce/stop chafing and they protect my fingers well from chafing. However, I have to point out that the statement "there won't be many messy threads" isn't true at all as there was horrible untangling and I had to sew the edges of all FIVE cribs I've tried so far. Also, my boyfriend won't let me cut myself so I'm not sure how well they protect against cuts in the kitchen. But the purchase seems to be worth it.
