For a fishing boat with water hookups (you should be able to put it on and wear it barefoot) this is a terrible design. The leather heel strap digs into the ankle like a spur and even when cut off leaves a stiff seam that runs to the center of the inside of the heel. At worst, style is more important than function. You can wear them without socks, but you have to wrap your heel in the shoe and step on it. So if you just want cool slippers I think they're ok and that's the only reason why I give them 2 stars. But if you're looking for fishing/boating shoes that stay securely on your feet and don't require socks, try something else.
