Review on 🐟 OASE Filtosmart Thermo 200 Indoor Aquatics, Black by Amy Hodgson

Previous 100's review: Quiet and well made - heater probably not enough for 30+ gallons, but at 29 it does the job. The heating failed about a month later, but OASE sent me a new one immediately and with almost no effort. Your CSR was very nice and the new heater arrived quickly. The thing has kept my water crystal clear so far, but I think if I had to do it again I'd buy a 200. Perhaps. This one does the job and is very quiet with no issues. As I expected, 100 wasn't enough for my 29 gallon tank. I gave it and all the lines etc to my grandson for his 20 gallons and he must be very pleased. I switched to the Thermo 200 and I like almost everything about it except the noise. While the 100 was almost imperceptible, the 200 hums at a constant 60dB, which is just too much in a quiet office. While my water is cleaner and clearer and the flow is excellent through the included ⅝" hose connected to 3rd party stainless steel tubing, the constant buzzing in the next room is audible and really annoying. This is more down to a sloppy impeller of the steel shaft than to cavitation or scavenging. Because this unit is significantly larger than its predecessor 100, it is harder to conceal when placed and therefore more visible indoors. This adds noise when a smaller unit is placed behind the tank on the bookshelf , but this one won't. I've tested that there are no kinks or kinks in the hose that could cause back pressure. I've tried insulating the base on the mouse pad. Tried covering the unit with towels, got OASIS contacted and waiting for their reply but I think it's just a clinker.
