If after building or purchasing an Intel Skylake Core i7 CPU and ASUS motherboard with legacy Firewire issues for professional audio interfaces, cameras, camcorders, etc., go to do have, This card is the solution to your problem! I was very disappointed after building a cool new $1500 studio computer to run my Pro Tools interfaces and everything. I bought the recommended AVID SIIG N342534X which didn't work. It shows up normally in the OS on both Win7 x64 pro and Win10 x64 pro, but Pro Tools always gives the error "Cannot load ASIO device". Tried everything, tweaked BIOS settings, tried legacy MS-FW drivers, normal MS-FW drivers, even TI-FW drivers, same experience. Bought second FW card recommended by AVID, Pyro API-316, same problems. Spent hours searching the AVID forums, contacted ASUS support, maybe tried the beta BIOS? Nothing will work. I'm a very experienced and certified Senior A+, NET+ System Administrator with 18 years experience in one of the largest companies in the US, so I'm not just an amateur who doesn't do research before building a system. I knew it was a DMA and memory sync issue or something like that because if I slowed my 32GB G-Skill memory below a certain point it would work, but I was able to use the AVID HW buffer not set and that - something else where necessary. I believe the problem is that the old TI XIO2213A FW chipset just can't sync or sync the time accurately on the new Skylake architecture. I ended up finding the answer to my problem on GearSlutz (thanks GearSlutz, you guys are awesome). The newer TI XIO2213B can sync properly with no BIOS settings for power management, C-states, Turbo Boost, etc. I hope this review will help someone else avoid wasting the time I am getting from trying, rebooting, testing, configuring, testing, switching drivers, rebooting, testing, etc. I wasted my time with everything. I built my new system because Skylake is the latest architecture, supporting my professional audio hardware software platform. I am very thankful that my Digidesign Digi002 mixer is working properly. I would like to get another 5-7 years without my equipment because I don't need anything new for my project studio.
