Review on 💾 OWC 32GB PC10600 DDR3 ECC-R 1333MHz Memory Upgrade for Mac Pro (2009-2012) by Henry Hunter

I have already updated the firmware to version 5.1 to use the 6-core Xeon X5690 processor. However, I wasn't happy with the 16GB of 1066MHz RAM, which wasn't enough to avoid having to quit and restart memory-hogging apps. I took the plunge and upgraded to 64GB 1333MHz but found that my system takes much longer to boot up and the fan runs at full speed before going to sleep. Also, my system says I have 64GB but doesn't recognize the higher RAM speed. After doing some research I found that resetting NVRAM and SMC fixes all these issues. Overall the installation was difficult but worth it.
