I checked all the reviews and chose them because the reviews didn't say anything bad about them. I haven't had any issues with the locking mechanism or flimsy plastic or anything - they're pretty much the same as any other flimsy cases I've used. They are packed in normal retail packaging. Revain packs them in a shipping box like everything else, along with airbags and possibly other stuff you may have ordered. At one point the crate had several together that had been torn on the outer edge by some sort of bump or crush on one side of the crate. This may have happened before or after Revain received them, during shipment or not. Aside from opening the retail packaging and inspecting it, there's really no way to control this. If you want to do this to avoid buying damaged ones, I think you need to go to the store and do it.
