The thumb joint has deteriorated so the thumb is no longer attached to the hand. These gloves are great! It keeps my thumb in place while I can still type or play the piano so I can keep working. I've had so much pain in the past so this is a great solution that allows me to function without having to take alcohol to control the pain. I just put on a glove and it helps! This is the best solution I've found! I highly recommend this product.
