I have been welding heavy steel up to 1/2 inch a few years ago and have increased the amperage on my welder to over 200 on a few occasions, especially when cutting where I could Can't turn on the burner. I don't have a really good shop anymore, I needed a very small welder for small jobs that I could plug into 120v at home. Well, a small welder that draws 70-90 amps is perfect for these bars. I was able to fix a lawn mower deck, cracked fenders on my trailer, and a few 1/16" corners with a good weld. My only complaint is that even at 70 amps they burn out pretty quickly, drawing 30-40 seconds per stick. I got 5 because they were the only general purpose sticks I could find that worked well and held up on the first or second Contact ignited welder.
