Make it well sealed at the bottom of the hood.

Make sure the top of the air cleaner fits snugly against the underside of the hood! There were some scary moments on the highway in the pouring rain!. I have one of these on my 2000 F250 7.3 and the bolts that attach the top seal left gaps in it. Getting caught in a pretty heavy downpour and it's like turning the key off! Really scary, one day I was climbing a hill next to a tractor trailer and it was pretty splashy, I accelerated to sixty and it happened! We have a cabin in the mountains of southern Colorado and the same thing has happened a few times just driving there. Whoever installed the block simply cut out the strips of the gasket, leaving gaps at the locations of his gasket on the underside of the hood, I think that's the problem. I ordered a new gasket and installed it as shown in the picture and applied silicone sealant to the gaps. I also sealed the bottom of the case on the outside where it meets the standard case. Haven't tested it yet, we'll see. I still have the original air filter. I may have to resort to that with a K&N filter. We'll see in the next storm.
