Review on HK GPS 500 Widescreen Navigator by Harman Kardon by Cre Soto

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fantastic product for portable GPS

I first bought the TomTom 510 but was disappointed with its bulkiness. It wasn't small enough to fit in my pocket and was awkward to carry around. I saw the Harman/Kardon GPS-500 and decided to return the TomTom and give it a try. Boy am I glad I did that. The GPS-500 is thinner than my friend's Nuvi and has a 4-inch high-resolution screen that beats the Nuvi. The graphics are amazing and the interface is extremely easy to use. Navigation is fast and accurate. As I said before, the graphics are fantastic. ? It made my TomTom look like a Fisher Price toy. I didn't expect the music and video features to be so good. The video is as smooth as my iPod video. The device also supports Windows Media DRM. I have successfully downloaded music from MTV Urge and their unlimited music subscription service. The multimedia experience is so good that I no longer had to take my iPod with me. The battery life is excellent. Listened to music and watched videos for 4 hours during the flight and still had enough juice to get me to the hotel. Of course I'm a happy backpacker. The only downside I see is that you may only have 4GB of storage for music and video on the SD card. More than enough for a long journey or a flight on an airplane, but not as nice as having your entire collection at hand at all times. Anyway, this is just a small complaint about a great product.
