Review on Boker 130423DAM Damascus Bread Knife by Brandon Woodson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good lightweight paring knife, well balanced and comfortable to the touch.

Beautiful, light paring knife, well balanced and comfortable to hold. Nimble and easy to handle. It wasn't very sharp out of the box, which was quickly corrected after a quick wet stone session. The damask pattern on the knife is very faint and muted, which is almost certainly due to the size and thinness of the blade. It's hanging on a magnetic wall unit in our kitchen and the pattern is muted but distinctive enough to look messy.

Pros
  • UNIQUE DAMASCUS: The production of Damascus steel is a millennia-old craft in which at least two steels of different composition are forged together. By using steels with different properties, the quality of Damascus steel can be greatly influenced in order to achieve the best possible balance between hardness and cutting performance. When finally pickled in a special acid, the two steels darken and reveal the unique damask pattern created by the structure.
