There are two types of tension chain mounts. The oval type where the chain snaps at both ends and the V type. These tie rods have hollow cores that fit oval mounts, but they have V-shaped mounts that expand at the core and cannot slide in or out. I was able to remove one of the four, and with the needle nose pliers I couldn't pry out the other three. If you don't need to change the color of the chain, most people probably won't care. Just note that the chains are likely to be permanently attached to the links and cannot be removed without severing the chain and knocking out the brackets in one fell swoop. If you're looking at bars that don't have a core and attach with a ring through the side hole, then you need V-Clamps.
